Meet and Greet in Guizhou

I’m back now at home after I spent an amazing weekend down in Guizhou province for my repeated run at the Guizhou100 3-days stage run.

2015-11-15 11.02.46It was now my second time here after I finished already here in 2014. It is one of my 4 favorite runs here in China. The event was 100% identical as last years run. The cities, the hotels and the transfers. Just the race course on day 1 in the city of Kaili was different. Most of the race track in Kaili was on brand new streets. Maybe that was also one reason why I could do here a new personal best marathon time. I still cannot really believe my new PB. That was just my second marathon on pavement this year. All other races was in mountains or off-road tracks somewhere in the countryside. And I’m also not proper recovered from previous races. Since 5 weeks I’m running now every weekend and a marathon distance is becoming a short distance race. 🙂

  • 2015-10-17 – Ninghai 50k
  • 2015-10-24 – Suzhou Mountain 42k
  • 2015-10-31 – Dali 69k
  • 2015-11-08 – Jiuquan 50k
  • 2015-11-13/15 – Guizhou 105k

So I don’t want to repeat all details which I already mentioned in the race report from the 2014 run.

This year I improved my finish times a lot. Here is a table to compare.

Total Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Total
2014 3h:48m:30s 4h:07m:38s 1h:59m:36s 9h:55m:43s
2015 3h:19m:xxs 3h:45m:xxs 1h:42m:xxs 8h:47m:xxs

I was able to run this race with the help from my supporter Eventanimals. After the race a week ago in the Gobi desert, it was already the second time that this company send me out for a running event to represent one of their products.

Along with me there was a bunch of athletes heading downwards to Guizhou province, all sent by Eventanimals. Some of the guys I met already a week earlier in Jiuquan where we was fighting together against sand, cold wind and a 50k torture trail through the desert. So it was a big meet and greet with old friends and a good time to make new ones.

It was definitely one of the best, joyful weekends this year. Full of talking and gossips about running, our together addiction and passion. Thanks to Fred, Sven, Santi, Paul, Josephine, Armelle, Gerome, Colin, Kai, Brendan, Mehdi for this nice weekend. It was a pleasure to run with you. Sure we will see us again and run together on this little planet. The credits for the photos at this post also goes to all these people.
